AJ Steps up for Make A Wish
November 20, 2008Indianapolis, IN--As driver who has rapidly emerged as a talent to keep an eye on, and a personality to match, it wasn't anything new to hear NASCAR Sprint Cup racer AJ Allmendinger being interviewed on the radio Thursday morning, but his message was a little bit different from just talking racing.
Speaking with Dave Smily on 99.5/WZPL's Smiley Morning Show on Thursday morning, AJ called in to donate over $6,000 to the Make A Wish Foundation.
The donation will fund two different wishes for 2 children and their families, including one for Ellie, who will be heading on a Disney Cruise Vacation thanks to AJ's gift.
"This is an important thing to do and I'm pretty excited about it. Even though I don't live in Indianapolis, my manager is based there and of course we race at the Brickyard so this is a good opportunity for me to do some good outside of my backyard."
AJ is a competitive guy, even when it comes to charity work.
"Now that I've done this, I'd like to challenge the guys who actually live in Indy-I know there are a lot of racers there-to step up and do the same thing!"
