Perserverance still delivers top-10

January 28, 2008

While the MSR crew installed an entirely new back end to the No. 6 Ford Riley, AJ waited to see if he would be back behind the wheel. As the laps rolled by, it was decided that the full-time Grand-Am drivers would finish out the final hours of the Rolex 24.

"We weren't going to lose anything or gain anything," said AJ. "So we decided that it would be best to let Ian and John finish out the race. Besides, I have to head straight out to Las Vegas for Cup testing, so this gives me a little more rest time. I'm just gutted...to be this close again. I wanted this for Mike (Shank). This team deserves this so much and everyone of the guys just did a solid job driving every hour."

The No.6 finished 9th in the DP class, with the sister 60 car finishing 6th. AJ heads to Las Vegas for Sprint Cup testing for two days, then on to Fontana, CA for more test days.
