• Some of the best racing all night took place between Jeff Gordon and A. J. Allmendinger. Those two battled each other all night, first for 10th place, then ninth, then eighth. Each driver raced the other cleanly but aggressively. It was quite enjoyable to watch.

At the final restart, both drivers lost track position. Gordon had a better car than where he finished – 11th. From the looks of it, pairing crew chief Jimmy Elledge with Allmendinger (who finished 13th) already has begun to pay dividends.

• Both Red Bull cars finished in the top 15 (Brian Vickers was sixth). It was the second time this season the once-beleaguered energy drink-sponsored team has accomplished the feat. Last time was at Pocono, where Vickers was second and Allmendinger finished 12th.
