AJ Hits The Dirt
May 29, 2009 (Dover, MD)- 29 May 2009—AJ Allmendinger will add a second race to his schedule this weekend. Not a Truck deal or a Nationwide appearance, but rather a run in the dirt at Delmarva Motorsports Park in Seaford, Delaware in the NAPA Auto Parts Night at the Races.
The race is AJ’s first-ever run in the dirt, although he did get a chance to test on Thursday night to prepare for his big dirty debut.
“This is something I’ve always wanted to do-run on dirt,” said Allmendinger. “Last night was the first time I’d ever run on dirt and it was a lot of fun. I think tonight is going to be a blast.”
AJ got his Friday off to a fast start with a run to 7th in qualifying for Sunday’s Autism Speaks 400 in the Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper Dodge with a fast lap time of 155.689 mph.
“I’m really proud of the effort today,” said Allmendinger. “We came a long way in the last couple few weeks--the entire organization and especially my team. I feel good about getting a solid run in this weekend.”
